LeapFTP is an intuitive FTP client that provides a familiar interface for using FTP servers. It includes a site manager with which you can organize your favorite FTP sites into manageable groups, and it lets you resume uploads and downloads after interruption. Other features include a remote file editor, dragging and dropping from Windows, proxy support, caching of remote directory lists, an anti-idle mechanism to keep you connected to the Internet during long downloads, and system tray minimization. You also can browse during file transfer, make use of context-sensitive help, and auto-redial lost connections. New features include multiple user configurations and additional proxy support.

The utility simply does too little for a commercial program. While LeapFTP is able to resume interrupted downloads, manage sites and transfer queues, and accept raw FTP commands, it can neither transfer multiple files simultaneously nor transfer a file in several streams to get the full use of your system's bandwidth. The interface is standard for FTP utilities: there are windows for local and remote folders, a transfer queue, and an FTP log. Caching directories considerably speeds up browsing large FTP sites, as you don t have to wait for a directory index to download. Bookmarks let you quickly jump to your favorite FTP locations. LeapFTP, however, offers very few automation options. You can t schedule transfers or enable automated synchronization of local and remote folders. The only thing you can do is write FTP scripts and run them using the Microsoft System Agent. All things considered, LeapFTP is not the best choice for advanced Web masters.
